Family residence in Turkey:

Family members of the foreign person who holds any other type of residence, or refugees, or people who are in exceptional protection status (do not meet the conditions for asylum but their return to their country poses a threat to their lives) benefit from this residency.

These family members mean the husband or wife and their children who are under the age of 18 years.

And if a foreign person has more than one wife, only one of them benefits from this residency. As for children, they all benefit from family residency, regardless of their mother.

As for the children who are in the custody of a mother outside Turkey, her consent must be obtained to obtain a residence permit for them.

Required document for obtaining family residency

To obtain family residency, the foreign person must have health insurance that includes his family members, and he must have an income equivalent to one-third of the minimum wage for each member of his family.

Children who obtain a family residence permit benefit from the right to education in educational institutions until the age of 18 without the need for them to obtain a student residence permit.

Duration of family residence

The family residency, upon request, extends up to three years and it can be renewed after that, but in all cases it cannot extend for more than the period of residence of the person who is the reason for obtaining the family residence permit. In the event of the death of that person, his family still has the right to extend their residence permit.

Children who have resided in Turkey for at least three years under a family residence permit may also request renewal of their residence permit after reaching the age of 18.

And those who obtained a family residence permit as a result of marriage to a Turkish man or woman can request the renewal of their family residence permit even after divorce, provided that they have had a previous family residence permit for at least three years due to marriage to a Turkish citizen.
